The Twin Gables Inn, a State Registered Historic building, is a pleasant,
romantic Inn, perfect for that Getaway Weekend. Built in 1865, Twin
Gables Inn has a rich history, having undergone numerous changes,
but always being a part of the progression of the Saugatuck community.
It started as a brewery icehouse, became a tannery, a barrelstave
mill, a boat building yard, a planing mill, and since the turn-of-the-century,
a hotel and restaurant. It is the only building which was once a mill,
still left standing from the busy lumbering era in the Saugatuck area.
The spacious Breakfast and Common Rooms have original Maple floors and a large wood-burning fireplace; a unique feature is the 3,500 square feet of embossed tin ceilings and walls. Sit and relax on the front porch and enjoy an unobstructed view of the sunset over Lake Kalamazoo
